Basenji Doormat #1 | All-Weather | Barkless Dog Welcome Mat

One of the oldest and most distinctive dog breeds in the world, the Basenji originated in Central Africa — specifically in the Congo Basin — where it was prized by local tribes as a hunting dog of exceptional intelligence and agility. Brought to Europe in the 1930s and recognised by the AKC in 1943, the Basenji is unlike any other breed: it does not bark in the conventional sense, instead producing a unique yodel-like sound known as a "baroo." Known for its cat-like grooming habits, almond-shaped eyes, and tightly curled tail, the Basenji is as elegant as it is spirited. Known by many names — Barkless Dog, African Barkless Dog, Congo Dog, African Bush Dog, Yodel Dog, Cat Dog, Baroo Dog — this ancient breed has captivated dog lovers for centuries.

This Basenji Doormat #1 features a Basenji illustration that replaces the letter O in the word HOME, creating a design that's both playful and purposeful. It's made for Basenji owners, dog enthusiasts, and anyone who wants their front door to celebrate one of the world's most remarkable breeds. Looking for Basenji doormats?
