California Tarantula Doormat #1 | Tarantula Welcome Mat

The California Tarantula, also known as the California Ebony Tarantula or California Black Tarantula and scientifically as Aphonopelma eutylenum, has a quieter life than its impressive appearance might suggest. At home in California’s coastal sage scrub and open grassy habitats, it spends much of its time near a burrow. These night-time hunters wait close to their shelters for passing prey rather than spinning a web to catch a meal. Autumn brings a change of pace, when mature males leave their retreats to search for mates.

This California Tarantula Doormat #1 features a full tarantula resting on a textured log, with a rounded hairy abdomen and thick, jointed legs extending across the bark, framed by a black rectangular border. Crafted from natural coir fibre (coconut husk), this mat effectively traps dirt and debris at the door. The sturdy non-slip rubber backing keeps it securely in place. Natural coir is best suited for covered or sheltered entryways, not recommended for fully exposed outdoor use.

A thoughtful gift for California Tarantula lovers, spider enthusiasts and arachnid admirers, this detailed woodland-style illustration brings a little eight-legged character to every homecoming.
