California Toad Peeking Doormat #1 | Peeking Toad Welcome Mat

The California Toad, known scientifically as Anaxyrus boreas halophilus and formerly as Bufo boreas halophilus, takes life at its own unhurried pace. This Western Toad subspecies often walks or crawls between short hops rather than making long leaps. It can be active by day after emerging from winter shelter, then shifts towards night-time activity in summer after breeding. Its breeding calls are surprisingly quiet, with high-pitched notes sometimes compared to the peeping of a chick.

This California Toad Peeking Doormat #1 features a front-facing toad peeking from the edge on the left side, with large round eyes, a broad mouth and intricately textured skin, inside a black rectangular border. Crafted from natural coir fibre (coconut husk), this mat effectively traps dirt and debris at the door. The sturdy non-slip rubber backing keeps it securely in place. Natural coir is best suited for covered or sheltered entryways, not recommended for fully exposed outdoor use.

A thoughtful gift for California Toad lovers, amphibian enthusiasts and nature admirers, this wide-eyed visitor brings a little pondside character to every homecoming.
