Chesapeake Bay Retriever Peeking Doormat #1 | Peeking Chessie Welcome Mat

The Chesapeake Bay Retriever, affectionately known as the Chessie, Chessie Dog and CBR, was developed around Maryland's Chesapeake Bay to retrieve waterfowl in cold, demanding conditions. The breed's early history is linked to two dogs rescued from a ship off the Maryland coast in 1807, whose descendants helped shape this powerful American retriever. Its dense double coat has a distinctive oily texture that helps protect it in cold water, while its strong swimming ability reflects generations of working heritage. Recognised by the American Kennel Club in 1878, the Chessie became Maryland's official state dog in 1964 and remains admired for its courage, intelligence and devotion.

This Chesapeake Bay Retriever coir doormat features a detailed Chessie portrait peeking from the left edge, with drop ears, expressive eyes and a textured coat framed by a black rectangular border.
