Coyote Doormat #2 | Prairie Wolf Welcome Mat

Coyote — also known as Canis latrans, Prairie Wolf, Yote, Brush Wolf, American Jackal, Song Dog, Trickster, Little Wolf, Ghost Dog, and Phantom of the Plains — is one of North America’s most resilient and adaptable wild canines. Native to the prairies, deserts, and forests of the Americas, the coyote has expanded its range dramatically over the past century, thriving from remote wilderness to the edges of major cities. Revered in Indigenous cultures as a trickster figure of cunning intelligence, the coyote features in the mythology of dozens of Native American nations — and its ability to adjust pack size and reproduction in response to pressure has made it virtually impossible to displace. Their haunting howl at dusk and dawn has earned them the name Song Dog and made them one of the most recognizable voices of the American landscape.

This mat features a beautifully detailed Coyote illustration that replaces the letter O in HOME — a fitting nod to the coyote’s instinct to roam and return. Looking for coyote doormats? Crafted from natural coconut coir fibers, this mat is built to trap dirt and debris at the door while bringing a bold, nature-inspired character to your entryway. The sturdy non-slip backing keeps it firmly in place, and the textured coir surface is naturally tough and hardwearing — a classic material for front doors that gets better with use.

A distinctive and durable gift for wildlife lovers, nature enthusiasts, and anyone who appreciates the spirit of North America’s most iconic wild canine.

This doormat is designed for coyote lovers, wildlife enthusiasts, and anyone captivated by North America’s most adaptable wild canine. Whether you know them as the Prairie Wolf, Song Dog, Yote, or Phantom of the Plains, this mat is a celebration of one of nature’s most resilient and fascinating creatures.

What makes this doormat unique?
The design features a detailed Coyote illustration that replaces the letter O in HOME — a clever, nature-inspired detail that sets it apart from mass-produced welcome mats. Printed onto natural coconut coir, the result is a mat with real texture and character that improves with age. For more wildlife and nature doormat styles, browse our Wildlife, Farm Animals & Nature Collection.

Can this mat be used outdoors?
This mat performs best in covered or sheltered outdoor areas such as a porch or covered entryway. Natural coir is hardwearing but prolonged exposure to direct rain and sun can shorten its lifespan. For fully exposed outdoor use, we recommend our all-weather version of this design.

What size is available?
This mat is available in three sizes: 16" x 24" (41 x 61cm), 18" x 30" (46 x 76cm), and 24" x 36" (61 x 91cm) — suitable for most entryways from compact to grand.

Is this a good gift?
Absolutely. This mat makes a thoughtful, distinctive gift for wildlife lovers, nature enthusiasts, and anyone with a soft spot for the coyote’s wild spirit. It’s durable, personal, and far more memorable than anything off the shelf. Tag us at @pupularmats — we love seeing the mats in their new home.
