Croeso Cynnes Doormat #1 | All-Weather | Welsh Welcome Mat

Croeso Cynnes — pronounced KROY-so KUN-ess — means "warm welcome" in Welsh, and it is one of the most heartfelt expressions in one of Europe’s oldest living languages. While Croeso alone has appeared on Welsh doorways and road signs for generations, Croeso Cynnes carries an extra layer of warmth — an invitation not just to enter, but to feel at home. Welsh is a Brythonic Celtic language spoken continuously for over 1,500 years, descended from the tongue of the ancient Britons. It survived the Acts of Union of 1536 and 1543, which sought to suppress it from public life, and the 19th-century Welsh Not — a wooden token used to shame schoolchildren caught speaking their native language. Today, Welsh is spoken by approximately 900,000 people and is co-official across Wales, with Croeso and its variants among the first words any visitor encounters at the border.

This all-weather doormat features Croeso Cynnes in a bold, characterful script design that brings the warmth of the Welsh language to any front door. Looking for more Welsh-themed doormats?
