Donkey Doormat #1 | Donkey Welcome Mat

The Donkey — also known as Equus asinus, Ass, Burro, Jackass, Jack, Jenny, Jennet, Moke, Neddy, Cuddy, and Dicky — is one of the oldest domesticated animals on earth, with a history of service to humanity stretching back over 5,000 years. First domesticated in Africa from the African wild ass around 3000 BCE, the donkey spread rapidly across the ancient world, becoming indispensable to the civilisations of Egypt, Mesopotamia, Greece, and Rome as a pack animal, agricultural workhorse, and companion. Sturdy, sure-footed, and famously intelligent, donkeys have carried goods across deserts, ploughed fields, and supported communities on every inhabited continent. Beneath their reputation for stubbornness lies a deeply affectionate, curious, and loyal nature — qualities that have made the donkey a beloved fixture of farm life and a cherished companion animal the world over.
