German Shepherd Peeking Doormat #1 | Peeking Alsatian Wolf Welcome Mat

The German Shepherd, also known as the GSD, Alsatian, Deutscher Schäferhund and German Shepherd Dog, was standardised in Germany in the late 19th century, with Max von Stephanitz establishing the breed club in 1899. Originally developed for herding, the breed’s intelligence and versatility later led to roles in guide work, search and rescue, and other service work. In Britain, it was historically called the Alsatian Wolf Dog: “Alsatian” referred to the Alsace region, while “Wolf Dog” reflected its wolf-like appearance. Despite that historical name, the German Shepherd is a domestic dog breed, not a wolf-dog hybrid.

This German Shepherd coir doormat features an Alsatian portrait peeking from the left edge inside a black rectangular border, with tall upright ears, expressive eyes and a long muzzle. Crafted from natural coir fibre (coconut husk), this mat effectively traps dirt and debris at the door. The sturdy non-slip rubber backing keeps it securely in place. Natural coir is best suited for covered or sheltered entryways, not recommended for fully exposed outdoor use.

A distinctive, personal gift for any German Shepherd household, far more thoughtful than anything off the shelf.

FAQ

1. Who is this doormat designed for?

This doormat is made for German Shepherd lovers, including admirers of the breed known as the GSD, Alsatian, Deutscher Schäferhund and German Shepherd Dog. The historical name Alsatian Wolf Dog refers to this same domestic breed, not a wolf-dog hybrid. If a German Shepherd has claimed your heart (and your sofa), this mat belongs at your front door.

2. What makes this doormat unique?

The design features a German Shepherd peeking from the left edge, with tall upright ears, expressive eyes and a long muzzle framed by a black rectangular border. Printed on natural coir fiber, the illustration has a warm, textured finish and a distinctive breed-specific character rather than a generic welcome message. 3. What sizes are available?

This doormat comes in three sizes: 16x24" / 41x61cm (ideal for apartment doors and side entries), 18x30" / 46x76cm (fits most standard front doors), and 24x36" / 61x91cm (great for wider entryways and double doors).

4. Can this mat be used outdoors?

Natural coir performs best in covered or sheltered entryways, such as a covered porch, a recessed doorway or an indoor hall. It is not recommended for fully exposed outdoor use where it would be subject to direct rain or standing water. If you need a fully weatherproof option, please contact us.

5. How do I care for this coir doormat?

Shake or brush the mat clean to remove loose dirt and debris. Avoid prolonged moisture exposure and standing water, and keep it in an indoor or covered outdoor entryway to help protect the natural coir fibers.

Absolutely. It’s a thoughtful, distinctive gift for any German Shepherd household, whether for a housewarming, a new dog celebration or simply to honour a much-loved Alsatian. Tag us at @pupularmats — we love seeing the mats in their new home.
