Golden Retriever Peeking Doormat #1 | Peeking Tweedmouth Hound Welcome Mat

The Golden Retriever, affectionately called the Goldie or Golden, was developed in the Scottish Highlands during the 19th century by Dudley Marjoribanks, later Lord Tweedmouth. His breeding records include an 1868 pairing between Nous, a yellow retriever, and Belle, a Tweed Water Spaniel, laying an important foundation for the breed. The term Yellow Retriever recalls those early yellow-coated retrievers, while Tweedmouth Hound is used here as a nod to the breed’s founder, not an official breed name or hound classification. Bred to retrieve game on land and in water, Goldens became known for their intelligence, willingness to work and affectionate companionship.

This Golden Retriever coir doormat features a Goldie portrait peeking from the left edge inside a black rectangular border, with expressive eyes, soft drop ears and flowing neck fur.
