Grand Basset Griffon Vendéen Doormat #1 | Large Griffon Welcome Mat

The Grand Basset Griffon Vendéen, usually shortened to GBGV, comes from the Vendée region of western France, where a dependable nose and plenty of stamina mattered more than a tidy coat. Developed as a hunting hound that could be followed on foot, it worked through rough country in pursuit of rabbits and hares. The Grand is larger and longer-legged than its Petit Basset relative, with a rough coat that helped protect it from brambles along the trail. That working background still shows in this sociable hound’s enthusiasm for a good sniff and an outing with its favourite people.

This Grand Basset Griffon Vendéen peeking coir doormat features a GBGV peeking from the left edge, with tousled eyebrows, long hanging ears, expressive eyes and a shaggy, bearded muzzle inside a black rectangular border. Picture that familiar scruffy face greeting visitors before your own hound comes to investigate; explore related designs in our Hounds Collection, Scent Hounds Collection and Dogs Collection.

Crafted from natural coir fibre (coconut husk), this mat effectively traps dirt and debris at the door. The sturdy non-slip rubber backing keeps it securely in place. Natural coir is best suited for covered or sheltered entryways, not recommended for fully exposed outdoor use.

A thoughtful housewarming, birthday or holiday gift for Grand Basset Griffon Vendéen lovers and GBGV enthusiasts, this shaggy portrait brings Large Griffon character to every homecoming.
