Greyhound Doormat #5 | Couch Potato Welcome Mat

The Greyhound — also known as the English Greyhound, Sighthound, Gazehound, Noodle Horse, Longboi, Couch Potato, Needle Nose, Chatterbox, Snoot Rocket, and Big Noodle — is one of the oldest dog breeds in recorded history, with depictions found in ancient Egyptian tombs dating back over 4,000 years. Selectively bred for speed and sight-hunting across open terrain, the Greyhound was prized by pharaohs, Roman emperors, and medieval nobility alike, and was among the first breeds to be shown at early dog exhibitions in Britain. Despite their reputation as the fastest dog breed — capable of reaching speeds of up to 45mph — Greyhounds are famously gentle, quiet, and affectionate at home, earning them the nickname Couch Potato as much as Noodle Horse. Sensitive, loyal, and surprisingly low-maintenance, they are devoted companions who ask for little more than a warm spot and the company of their people.

This Greyhound coir doormat features a Greyhound illustration replacing the letter O in HOME — a quietly distinctive design for a breed that has graced human homes for millennia. Crafted from natural coir fibre (coconut husk), this mat effectively traps dirt and debris at the door. The sturdy non-slip rubber backing keeps it securely in place. Natural coir is best suited for covered or sheltered entryways — not recommended for fully exposed outdoor use.

A distinctive, personal gift for any Greyhound household — far more thoughtful than anything off the shelf.

1. Who is this doormat designed for?
This doormat is made for Greyhound lovers — fans of the breed known as the English Greyhound, Sighthound, Gazehound, Noodle Horse, Longboi, Couch Potato, Needle Nose, Chatterbox, Snoot Rocket, and Big Noodle. If a Greyhound has claimed your heart (and your sofa), this mat belongs at your front door.

2. What makes this doormat unique?
The design features a Greyhound illustration replacing the letter O in HOME — a subtle, characterful detail that sets it apart from mass-produced welcome mats. Printed on natural coir fiber, each mat has the warm, textured look of a quality handcrafted piece rather than something you'd find in a big-box store. Browse our Dog Collection for more breed-specific doormat designs.

3. What sizes are available?
This doormat comes in three sizes: 16x24" / 41x61cm (ideal for apartment doors and side entries), 18x30" / 46x76cm (the most popular size, fits most standard front doors), and 24x36" / 61x91cm (great for wider entryways and double doors).

4. Can this mat be used outdoors?
Natural coir performs best in covered or sheltered entryways — a covered porch, a recessed doorway, or an indoor hall. It is not recommended for fully exposed outdoor use where it would be subject to direct rain or standing water. Prefer a fully weatherproof option? Check out our all-weather version of this design.
