Irish Wolfhound Peeking Doormat #1 | Wolfhound Welcome Mat

The Irish Wolfhound, often simply called the Wolfhound and affectionately nicknamed the Gentle Giant, has a history woven into Ireland's stories and traditions. These imposing sighthounds were once prized for hunting wolves and other large game, a very different role from their familiar place beside the sofa today. The breed came close to disappearing before a nineteenth-century revival helped establish the Irish Wolfhound we know now. Despite their remarkable height and rugged, wiry coats, Wolfhounds are admired for their gentle, dignified companionship.

This Irish Wolfhound peeking coir doormat features a Wolfhound peeking from the left edge, with shaggy eyebrows, folded ears, expressive eyes and a bearded muzzle inside a black rectangular border. Picture that familiar whiskery face welcoming visitors before your own hound comes to investigate; explore related designs in our Hounds Collection, Sighthounds Collection, English, Irish, Scottish and Welsh Collection and Dogs Collection.

Crafted from natural coir fibre (coconut husk), this mat effectively traps dirt and debris at the door. The sturdy non-slip rubber backing keeps it securely in place. Natural coir is best suited for covered or sheltered entryways, not recommended for fully exposed outdoor use.

A thoughtful gift for Irish Wolfhound lovers and admirers of Ireland's hound heritage, this shaggy portrait brings a little Gentle Giant character to every homecoming.
