Norwegian Elkhound Doormat #1 | Norsk Elghund Grå Welcome Mat

The Norwegian Elkhound, known in its homeland as the Norsk Elghund Grå, comes from a long tradition of hardy Scandinavian hunting dogs. Its Norwegian name refers to moose rather than the animal North Americans usually call an elk, which explains the alternative name Norwegian Moosehound. Traditionally, these determined dogs tracked moose and used their carrying bark to help hunters locate them in the forest. That thick grey coat, compact build and alert nature suited life in a cold northern landscape, and today’s Elkhound still brings an adventurous spirit to a walk in the woods.

Our Norwegian Elkhound Doormat #1 | Norsk Elghund Grå Welcome Mat features an Elkhound peeking from the left edge, with a gently tilted head, upright pointed ears, expressive eyes and a thick facial ruff inside a black rectangular border. Picture that familiar, watchful face greeting visitors before your own Elkhound comes to see who has arrived.
