Pharaoh Hound Doormat #1 | Kelb tal-Fenek Welcome Mat

The Pharaoh Hound, known in Malta as the Kelb tal-Fenek, has a name that means “rabbit dog” and a long working history on the Maltese islands. Despite its Egyptian-sounding English name, this is Malta’s national dog, traditionally valued for hunting rabbits across rocky countryside using sight, scent and hearing. Those wonderfully tall ears are part of its alert hunting toolkit, while its lean build helps it move with speed and agility. It also has a charming party trick: when excited, its nose and ears can turn a deeper pink, earning it the affectionate nickname “Blushing Dog.”

Our Pharaoh Hound Doormat #1 | Kelb tal-Fenek Welcome Mat features a Pharaoh Hound peeking from the left edge, with a gently tilted head, tall upright ears, expressive eyes and a long, slender muzzle inside a black rectangular border. Picture that inquisitive face waiting at the doorway while your own hound listens for the next adventure. Crafted from natural coir fibre (coconut husk), this mat effectively traps dirt and debris at the door. The sturdy non-slip rubber backing keeps it securely in place. Natural coir is best suited for covered or sheltered entryways, not recommended for fully exposed outdoor use.
