Plott Hound Doormat #1 | North Carolina Coonhound Welcome Mat

The Plott Hound, often simply called the Plott, has a family story that begins with German hunting hounds brought to North Carolina by Johannes Plott in the eighteenth century. Generations of the Plott family developed these dogs into determined scent hounds valued for tracking bear and other game through rugged mountain country. Unlike many American Coonhounds with English Foxhound roots, the Plott’s German ancestry gives it a different branch of the family tree. Today, this North Carolina hound still brings plenty of stamina and nose-led curiosity to an outing, along with loyal companionship when it is time to head home.

This Plott Hound peeking coir doormat features a hound peeking from the left edge, with a gently tilted head, long hanging ears, expressive eyes and a broad nose above a detailed muzzle inside a black rectangular border. Picture that familiar face greeting visitors before your own Plott comes to investigate; explore related designs in our Hounds Collection, Scent Hounds Collection and Dogs Collection.

Crafted from natural coir fibre (coconut husk), this mat effectively traps dirt and debris at the door. The sturdy non-slip rubber backing keeps it securely in place. Natural coir is best suited for covered or sheltered entryways, not recommended for fully exposed outdoor use.

A thoughtful housewarming, birthday or holiday gift for Plott Hound lovers and Coonhound enthusiasts, this watchful portrait brings a little North Carolina hound character to every homecoming.
