Rhodesian Ridgeback Peeking Doormat #1 | Ridgeback Welcome Mat

The Rhodesian Ridgeback — also known as the Ridgeback, African Lion Hound, African Lion Dog or Lion Hound — was developed in southern Africa as a versatile hunting companion and guardian. The breed's signature ridge is a strip of hair along its back that grows in the opposite direction to the rest of the coat. Its Lion Hound nickname comes from its historical role tracking lions and holding them at bay until hunters arrived, rather than fighting them. Behind that athletic build is an independent, affectionate dog known for devotion to its family.

Our Rhodesian Ridgeback Peeking Doormat #1 | Ridgeback Welcome Mat features a Ridgeback peeking from the left edge with folded ears, expressive eyes, a broad muzzle and a gently tilted head. A black rectangular border frames the detailed portrait on textured natural coir, offering a familiar hound greeting before your own Ridgeback checks the door; discover more canine designs in our Scent Hounds Collection, Hounds Collection and Dogs Collection.

Crafted from natural coir fibre (coconut husk), this mat effectively traps dirt and debris at the door. The sturdy non-slip rubber backing keeps it securely in place. Natural coir is best suited for covered or sheltered entryways — not recommended for fully exposed outdoor use.

A thoughtful housewarming, birthday or holiday gift for a Rhodesian Ridgeback lover, this expressive portrait brings a little Lion Hound character to an indoor entrance or sheltered porch.
