Short-Eared Owl Peeking Doormat #2 | Owl Welcome Mat

The Short-eared Owl (Asio flammeus) is one of the owls you have a real chance of watching hunt in daylight, rather than just hearing after dark. It favours open country such as moorland, rough grassland and marshes, where it searches for small mammals. You can find it in the UK throughout the year, with extra birds arriving from Scandinavia, Russia and Iceland in winter. Those seasonal visitors often turn up around the coast and in lowland wetlands, making a winter walk a good time to keep an eye on the fields.

The Short-Eared Owl Peeking Doormat #2 features an upright owl peeking from the left edge beside a tree trunk, perched on a short branch with its talons clearly visible. Its short feather tufts, prominent eyes and finely streaked breast feathers stand out in black on natural coir, framed by a black rectangular border with open space to the right. Crafted from natural coir fibre (coconut husk), this mat effectively traps dirt and debris at the door. The sturdy non-slip rubber backing keeps it securely in place. Natural coir is best suited for covered or sheltered entryways, not recommended for fully exposed outdoor use.

A thoughtful housewarming or birthday gift for an owl lover, birdwatcher or open-country wildlife enthusiast, this perched visitor brings a little wild character to the doorstep.
